The scope of dissertation in lieu of a course is offered in the 4th semester to a few students based on their performance in the first two semesters of the M.Sc programme. The list of topics since 2011-12 can be viewed below.

In addition, students also have the scope of underaking informal projects with various faculty members. They are also exposed to project work in the various experimental labs. A list of projects done in the Observational Astronomy lab can be found here.
